Soft colors and semi-transparent fabrics have been present everywhere on the runway for several seasons now. In the coming year, they will be distinguished by an interesting detail – the presence of knots strategically placed to emphasize specific parts of the body. Designers have made a choice in favor of two aspects: knots as a design element and as a stylistic gesture.

One of the most interesting ideas is the update of dresses with knots. JW Anderson and Bottega Veneta have incorporated this decorative detail into their spring outfits. In both cases, the knot is located at hip height. In Fendi and Proenza Schouler, the knot is moved to the upper part of the dress: it imitates sleeves at chest height or takes on the appearance of a faux sweater tied over one shoulder. Another alternative is small knots at shoulder and chest height in knitwear and transparent garments, as seen in Issey Miyake’s designs.

The simplest way to adopt this trend is to use a sweater with double sleeves or a jacket. The knot is now dropped to shoulder height, mimicking a kind of shawl that draws attention to the center of the chest, where sleeves freely fall. Brandon Maxwell and Rokh offer such pieces in various ensembles – they are worn with pants and skirts.
